If they can sort that out and work on ensuring the food is served much much warmer they could be on to a winner as the pub itself is very nice. His great service was backed up by a meal that really hit the spot. Very nice staff, lovely bar with a real fire, meals very good. We attempted to order desserts, only to be told they had run out of most things (why not tell us when you bring the menus over, not 10 minutes later when you take the order?) Our twin room was really quiet, cleaner than clean and beautiful. My mum enjoyed her vegetable pie (despite it arriving cold) and my dad enjoyed his lamb cutlets. Service is appalling we waited a long time for each course, the waitress we had was so miserable it was uncomfortable, no water was given despite requested and the general ambiance was way to bright as they had illuminated the dining area with every spotlight they could turn on making it feel like a canteen rather than a nice restaurant! There is nothing terribly wrong with it but equally it is hardly inspiring or special - the food is ok, the drinks are fine....The thing that really made it stand out in a bad way was the way the staff behaved when a problem occurred: a complete lack of sympathy or offer to assist, no attempts at compromise and suggestions on how they might help were blocked by variations on "only following orders" from "on high". There are more places to choose from in the Kew area. My fish and chips was tepid when it was served, but tasted alright. Had I not walked towards the front of the pub I don't think anyone would have even noticed what we were missing. Good value for money. Covid 19 setup was excellent, felt very safe. Every member of the team that we met here, were lovely, friendly and helpful.
